Frequently Asked Questions
Below are a list of FAQ’s and answers, or a link to answers. If you cant find the answer to your questions, please contact one of the commitee for clarification.
Are you really free?
Yes, as much as practical. We don’t charge for membership or weekly session – so that gives all our members Free ARC affiliation. We may charge a small fee for special events e.g. our occasional track night is £1. We do ask that members who wish to race buy a club vest or tee shirt (purple wear) and sell a range of training wear (HiViz, Ninja Tee, Hoodies etc).
Who are the Run Leaders?
We use the term Run Leaders in multiple places for multiple meanings. If we are talking in the context of our Couch to 5km programme, this is organised through the Run Together initiative – therefore for insurance reasons the Run Leaders have to be qualified by UKA as Leaders in Running Fitness (LiRFs). So currently Neil, Nic and Kim are our three LiRF’s. In all other instances run leaders (non capitalised) are the leaders nominated by the commitee on a week by week basis to lead a group of runners on a session under our ARC affiliation rules. These run leaders are usually our more experienced runners and are there to make sure the group are safe, know where they are going and looking for any issues.
